Ja Rule became one of the most commercially successful artists in the rap industry in the early 2000s. He made a name for himself with Venni Vetti Vecci (1999), a hardcore debut whose style was akin to the brutal thug rap popularized at the time. On his next albums, he began collaborating with female R&B singers, resulting in a series of radio hits, including “Between Me and You” and “Always on Time”.
